Waiting for the Rain

Winter is just around the corner and LA County has yet to receive its first rain of the season! Creeks like Arroyo Seco in the Angeles National Forest (pictured above) have dried out. Native vegetation has been adapted to Southern California's Mediterranean climate for thousands of years, but it still can be a shocking view to hikers and visitors.
Our third round of sampling is pending the rainfall to fill the river and its tributaries. Most of the LA River still has some water thanks to the river's structure and its dams. Take a photo soon to compare the river when it fills up in the next few weeks!
